The advantages of spray foam insulation let you deliver total and guaranteed building performance with confidence that’ll impress your clients. On average, Icynene spray foam insulation pays for itself within three to four years and performs for the life of the building. The advantages of spray foam insulation include:

Air sealing that fills in every gap providing a total air barrier

Incredible energy efficiency letting your clients save up to 50% in heating and cooling costs

Improved indoor air quality protecting against intrusion of allergens and pollutants

Superior moisture management protecting your design against water and condensation problems

Total design flexibility letting you specify Icynene in any design and climate zone

Global recognition and approval by key industry organizations including ICC-ES: International Code Council Evaluation Service

Icynene’s Engineering and Building Science experts can work with you and your unique design to ensure that Icynene spray foam insulation solutions are properly integrated with other specified commercial building systems for total building performance.

Spray Foam Insulation vs. Traditional Insulation in Commercial Buildings

Compared to  traditional insulation types like fiberglass and cellulose, spray foam insulation offers superior performance qualities ideal in commercial buildings. The comparison below outlines how spray foam outperforms traditional insulation types in commercial buildings.

Energy Efficient Spray Foam Insulation

Save on Energy

Energy efficiency is a top consideration among building owners in the market for insulation. Icynene spray foam insulation helps you give them exactly that. In fact, Icynene can help reduce heating and cooling energy bills by up to 50%, and the investment continues to pay off in the form of monthly savings for the life of the building.

Because less energy is needed to heat and cool a building with Icynene, HVAC capacity needs may also be reduced, saving your clients more money and possibly saving space within the design. HVAC design software can help you estimate the reduced heating and cooling loads.

In addition to a higher return on insulation costs, all this means a huge reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, not to mention easily earned LEED credits, without design limitations — giving commercial architects unprecedented power to shape the future.

How It Works:  Insulation R Value+Air Seal

When measuring the effectiveness of insulation, R value is the only factor most insulation manufacturers talk about because it’s all they offer. R value measures the ability to limit conductive heat flow (heat transferred through it). But the primary method of heat transfer is not conductive heat flow — it’s air leakage (convection). Air leakage can account for up to 40% of a building’s energy loss, and it cannot be stopped with traditional insulation. R value is important, but an airtight seal is equally important for achieving energy savings.

Icynene spray foam insulation provides insulation R value and air-sealing in a single step, saving time and reducing the material needed. This is the only way to truly provide your clients with the most value from their insulation costs.

 Indoor Air Quality Improvement

 Air Quality Facts

We spend 90% of our time indoors. 40% of kids will develop respiratory illness. Medical costs for serious illnesses caused by poor indoor air quality total more than $1 billion per year. Lost productivity from those illnesses costs between $4.7 billion and $5.4 billion. Indoor air quality (IAQ) affects every one of us, especially those with respiratory health issues like asthma and allergies. Look out for the interests of your clients and everyone who occupies their buildings by improving indoor air quality* with Icynene spray foam insulation.

How Icynene Can Help

Acclaimed re modeller and green building scientist Carl Seville offers the following keys to improved indoor air quality:

Keep out what pollutants you can, including:

Dust and dirt

Mould and moisture
Carbon monoxide
Separate breathing air from pollutants you can’t eliminate by air-sealing walls and ceilings between occupied spaces and:

Combustion furnaces and water heaters
Combustion closets
Chemical storage areas
Use building materials that contribute to moisture management (like Icynene spray foam insulation) to prevent the growth of mould, which releases spores and mycotoxins into the air.

Unlike other insulation types, Icynene spray foam insulation can help you achieve all of these goals at once. That’s because it’s also an air barrier that thoroughly seals the environment. By eliminating air leakage, Icynene spray foam insulation automatically helps prevent the infiltration of pollutants, outdoor allergens and moisture carried in the air. Plus, unlike some other insulation types, Icynene is not a food source for insects or mould, which is a common cause of respiratory irritation.

* Icynene creates an air barrier to reduce outdoor pollutants and allergens from getting inside. Used in conjunction with proper mechanical ventilation Icynene can make indoor air healthier than what you breathe outside.

ICYNENE Spray Foam Insulation & Moisture Control

Why Your Clients Need Spray Foam Insulation

Most people know that mould occurs because of moisture. But your clients may not know that 99% of the moisture that moves through the walls of their home is carried in the air.

Airborne moisture moves through building assemblies discreetly through cracks and crevices. When warm, moist air comes in contact with a cool surface, it condenses and remains there, which can lead to mould, mildew and structural weakness.

Be sure to educate your clients about this common problem — and then help them solve or prevent it with Icynene spray foam insulation.

How Icynene Can Help

Icynene spray foam insulation minimizes moisture-related problems caused by random air leakage because it expands to fill all the cracks and crevices where airborne moisture would otherwise enter. In fact, in many cases, a separate vapour retarder is not even needed.

Put Icynene’s moisture management benefits to work for you and your clients. You’ll be saving them countless headaches and unnecessary expenses — because the one-time cost of spray foam insulation is far less than the potential cost of corrective measures and lost operational time down the road.

The Installation

The Spray Foam is applied to the underside of the roof directly onto the slates, tiles or roofing felt. It bonds them to each other and to the load bearing rafter timbers. It is also an ideal form of insulation for new build properties. Once installed, the foam immediately increases the level of insulation in your home and provides a seamless join between the rafters preventing cold air and wind blown dust entering the loft space.
